The fire has devastated approximately 2,100 hectares (5,190 acres), damaging at least 84 homes and displacing over 1,200 residents. The region is experiencing its driest winter since 1946, coupled with strong winds, which have exacerbated the blaze's spread.

Over 2,000 self-defense force troops and firefighters are actively working to control the flames in challenging mountainous terrain. Tragically, a man's body was discovered on a road, and authorities are investigating whether his death is linked to the fire. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has pledged to deploy all necessary resources to mitigate the disaster. Forecasts predict snow and rain in the coming days, offering hope for improved conditions.

This wildfire is the most significant Japan has faced since the late 1980s, highlighting the increasing severity of natural disasters in the region. The combination of prolonged dry spells, strong winds, and steep terrain has created ideal conditions for such a devastating blaze.
